Today brings news that Sega is continuing its partnership with Creative Assembly and Games Workshop, following up on the success of the first Total War: Warhammer title with a full sequel. This newest project is steering toward launch on PC later in 2017. If the involved parties stick to that timeframe, it will be a very fast turnaround to get to to a sequel; Total War: Warhammer only released in mid-2016.

Sega has yet to reveal much about the gameplay distinctions in this installment compared to the first, but the publisher did share some details about what players can expect out of the story and setting. Players will be moving their troops through the continents far to the west of The Old World, where four major races from the long-running fiction are battling it out over The Great Vortex, a phenomenon that has hung over the elven homeland for many thousands of years. Players have the choice between High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen, and one more as-yet unannounced playable race.

While the campaign unfolds on the western continents, Sega is also promising that an additional large campaign map that features areas of both the new and old world regions will launch at some point after initial launch of the game, and it will be free to any players who own both the original Total War: Warhammer game and its sequel.

Check out the trailer below for a tease of the action at hand, and some of the unit types that will likely fill out your army.
