Hidetaka Suehiro (A.K.A. eccentric game-maker Swery) recently unveiled his next project: The Good Life, a "Mystery RPG" where a town's resident's mysteriously turn into cats. At this year's PAX West, Swery announced a few more details about the game, which they are now calling a "debt repayment life simulation RPG."
Asking for $1.5 million crowdfunding site Fig, the game feature events that change depending on the time of day, weather and season you engage with them. Your player character, New York City photographer Noami, must uncover the secret of Rainy Woods, which involves figuring out why exactly everyone turns to cats at night. The game's art style looks similar to the concept art shown off a couple of weeks ago, though the polygonal versions of characters have a bit of a papercrafted edge to them.
White Owls is also partnering with indie studios Camoflaj (of République fame) and Grounding (who most recently made Crimson Dragon as an Xbox One exclusive), which Swery says "will help us create something filled with maximum SWERISM." You can check out the first trailer and screenshots below.
