Post-apocalyptic RPGs are set to have good year, and not just because of Fallout 4. Today developer inXile Entertainment released a new gameplay trailer for Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut, an overhaul of last year’s isometric turn-based revival of the cult classic series that inspired Fallout.

In the video, Interplay founder and inXile studio head Brian Fargo details the range of choices players can make when trekking through the Arizona badlands. In a game that mixes old-school role-playing exploration with turn-based tactical combat, Desert Rangers can battle or befriend crazed monks and pick, bash or blow up obstacles like sealed doors, among other survival strategies.

With graphics and an interface improved from the original release and the option to play on consoles for the first time, strategy fans can look forward to surviving the Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut when it comes Oct. 13 on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. Those who bought the original release on PC or helped Kickstart that version will get the director's cut for free.
