The Warhammer 40K franchise has reached out to touch nearly every genre imaginable at this point. One of the few unconquered territories, MOBAs, is next on the list.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Nexus Arena brings together factions from across the universe. Dark Eldar are kidnapping warriors and making them fight to the death.

Developer Whitebox Interactive hopes to differentiate Dark Nexus Arena from the rest of the cluttered MOBA genre by taking a step away from the masses. The game won’t feature lanes, bases, or towers, and instead has more of a shooter ethos, complete with cover.

It will feature standard in-match MOBA progression, though. Instead of base destruction, the team that captures the Dark Nexus three times wins.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Nexus Arena is free-to-play. You can jump in via Steam Early Access on December 9.
