Following this weekend's retail leak, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer Monolith Productions have officially announced Middle-earth: Shadow of War with the game's first trailer and details.
The game, which takes place directly after the first title, expands the Nemesis System to encompass the environment and other characters by includng followers and Nemesis Fortresses. Followers sow their own stories of "loyalty, betrayal, and revenge," and Fortresses let you defeat enemy strongholds and create your own orc army.
Already announced for the game are two Nemesis expansions titled Slaughter Tribe and Outlaw Tribe (featuring new orc tribes, missions, fortress updates, equipment, and more) and two story expansions titled Blade of Galadriel and Desolation of Mordor (with a new campaign, playable character with abilities, missions, allies, and more).
Shadow of War comes out for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS4 Pro, and Project Scorpio "beginning" on August 22. Project Scorpio does not have a release date yet other than late 2017, so Shadow of War's press release seems to suggest that the version of the game for that system comes later than the others.
The game – in a variety of configurations with different bonuses – can be preordered, so check out the game's official page for more info on those as well as Shadow of War's expansions.
