Bandai Namco didn’t offer a window for when or how it will happen, but players will be able to play Dragon Ball FighterZ before its early 2018 release window.

Along with the beta news, Bandai Namco showed some additional details and shared that Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, and Buu are just the first six fighters “confirmed so far.” It did not offer hints on who or how many additional fighters will be in the game.

Bandai Namco also highlighted some of the game’s mechanics and other details. It’s a three versus three game and will run in 1080p at 60 fps. English and Japanese voice over will be available. You will be able to pull of Z-assists which lets you call in someone from your team for help. An example of its use showed Buu stunning Goku, who called in Vegeta to perform an attack while he was trying to recover. You can also use Z-change to change fighters mid-battle and can expect plenty of teleporting and vanishing during battle.

We also saw Goku go Super Saiyan 3 mid-fight. Leveling up, so to speak, is a product of certain attacks. These types of transformations will be temporary during a fight.

Finally you will also be able to pull off Ultimate Z-change moves which use all three of your fighters for a single attack.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming early 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and we should learn more about the beta soon. For more of our thoughts on Dragon Ball FighterZ, check out the podcast segment below.
