When we think of Warhammer 40,000, the image often conjured is one of a heavily armored space marine hack through Orks with a chainsword and blasting Eldar with a bolter. While those imposing ground forces fight over the uncountable planets in the Imperium of Man, war is also waged in the depths of space.
Battlfleet Gothic: Armada is a real-time strategy, but it isn’t the click-fest that you’ll get from Starcraft or its ilk. Instead, Tindalos is creating a game that’s cerebral in a different way.
Each of your ships, which you’ll be able to customize as you progress, has its own abilities and crew. As the they take location-based damage, you’ll lose the facilities with which to execute those skills.

Retreating from the battlefield or hiding behind cover of a previously destroyed ship to repair (saving both crew and its space-faring home that will earn persistent benefits) might be the wiser idea. Alternatively, you can send a vessel to its death, ramming an opposing ship and taking it down with you.
The Warp (the manner in which ships travel quickly) is a dangerous place inhabited by daemons. There is a chance that your cruiser might not re-emerge if you use the Warp to move around the battlefield.
The Unreal Engine 4-powered Battlefleet Gothic: Armada was extremely impressive when I saw it at Gamescom. And as a more recent fan of Warhammer 40,000, this latest gameplay trailer for the 2016 PC release has me excited.
