This War of Mine focused on the horrors of war, and its update, The Little Ones, lets players experience it through the lens of childhood. A new developer diary opens the hood a bit and highlights how the team is using A.I. to effectively simulate actions and relationships that will engage players.
The video breaks down a variety of the game's systems, and shows how children – which are six of the nine new characters to the game – fit into the game's larger world. They're not able to forage for items in the world, for instance, but they can be taught a variety of things that will help your small community. That is, if you take the time to engage them and nurture relationships.
