When we previewed Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 at New York Comic Con, we got a quick look at some of what the game’s open world has to offer. Backyard Battlegrounds is a never-ending fight between flora and undead fauna that players can engage with at will.

In addition to what amounts to a free-flowing practice mode, the Backyard Battlegrounds open world hides treasures. The bases for each team, while capable of defending themselves, can face an onslaught of foes if you start getting into the fight yourself.

Your base holds the portal to discreet matches, single-player hero missions, bobbleheads for all of the characters you’ve unlocked, daily missions for coins and stars, and a sticker book that shows off your achievements. It’s a sleeker approach to a menu system that creates a more vibrant experience.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will be out on February 23 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. More interested in solo play? You can check out how that's being improved for the sequel.
