The NBA may be dragging its feet on expanding the league, but Visual Concepts isn't. Today the developer of the popular NBA 2K series announced a new feature allowing users to bring additional cities and teams into the competition.

Both the MyLeague and MyGM modes in NBA 2K17 introduce league expansion for up to 36 teams, six past the number of teams that currently exist. You can bring back classic teams, add Euroleague teams to the fold, or build new teams from scratch. The options for team creation are plentiful. Visual Concepts built out 10 new franchises you can pick up and run with, but you can also peruse the creations of other users and download them to your league, or dive into the minutiae of designing your own arenas, logos, and uniforms.

Visual Concepts says it has buttressed the entire franchise mode experience to account for adding new teams, including expansion drafts, player protections, division realignment, and proper scheduling for future seasons.

We'll have more information on the game as we move closer to its September 16 release date on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
