A couple years ago, indie developer Mouldy Toof released The Escapists, a prison simulation game where you meticulously plan your escape. Now, the team along with publisher Team17, have announced the title's sequel.
The Escapists 2 will once again center around breaking out of prison, but a number of improvements are coming. These include more crafting items including building your own taser, local and online multiplayer for up to four players, a revamped combat system that introduces a lock-on targeting system, more detailed sprites, and better character customization options.

When we reviewed the first game, we found its repetitive nature to be more mundane than entertaining. The Escapists 2, however, will give players more options on how to spend their time while behind bars, including joining a band or learning to paint. You'll also have more choices on how to escape, such as tying together sheets from windows to make your way down multiple level prisons.
The Escapists will release next year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
