Frontier Developments, the studio behind Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and Zoo Tycoon, has launched the second phase of the Early-Bird Alpha for Planet Coaster on PC. The update implements new creation tools and features for the theme park simulator.
The original Alpha that launched in March allowed players to build paths, rides, and scenery within their own virtual amusement parks. We took a look at a developers diary that featured members of the team explaining the mechanics of their creation tools. You can check out the first two diaries here and here.

Alpha 2 includes a new terrain sculptor and advanced construction tool-sets. This allows players to alter terrain around their parks, and build their own roller coasters that could reach upwards or tunnel deep underground. It also will include new coaster types, stations, paint options for further customization, as well as advanced construction features for scenery, new building pieces, and the ability to create curved elevated pathways.
A new community trailer promo shows some of the user creations made thus far in the Early-Bird Alpha. Phase 3 for Planet Coaster’s Early-Bird Alpha is expected this summer, adding more features before its official launch later in the year on PC. Alpha 2 is currently available at FrontierStore.net.
