Dontnod revealed Vampyr last year, and the studio behind Life is Strange has released the first screens for its upcoming game. It's set in London during an outbreak of the Spanish flu in 1918, and players take on the role of a doctor. To further complicate things, he's also a vampire.

If these images are any indication, the studio is going for a darker visual tone than Life is Strange, though Dontnod says that decision-making will be as important. Characters in the world have their own stories and relationships, and if players choose to feed on them, they'll be gone forever – creating potentially unforeseen effects in the process. On the other hand, players can also choose to cure sick characters instead by taking advantage of the doctor's appropriate skillset.

The studio, perhaps drawing from its earlier game Remember Me, is also incorporating combat into Vampyr. The doctor can attack using traditional melee combat infused with a variety of supernatural vampiric abilities. Expect to see upgradeable weapons, poisons, and, of course, loot.

The game is set for a 2017 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
