To celebrate the anniversary of a successful Kickstarter campaign, the developers at Pixel Titans have released a new tongue-in-cheek trailer for the upcoming FPS Strafe. The offbeat video celebrates the life and death of an unfortunate grunt.

Strafe is an homage to the fast-paced first-person shooters of the ‘90s with roguelike elements peppered in.  Players explore an overrun spaceship, blasting their way through procedurally generated areas and purchase upgrades from merchants, dodging and shooting their way past the dangers of permadeath.

The trailer may take a humorous approach to storytelling, but beyond Strafe’s distinctly ‘90s aesthetic, the developers say the game is all about action. Tim had some time with Strafe at GDC last year, and he named it one of the best indie games at the show.

Pixel Titans will be hosting a livestream of Strafe on Twitch tonight at 7 PM PST. You can watch an hour of the game at that time here

Strafe is set to release this spring for PC and Mac, with Oculus Rift support for the former.
