Last year, we covered a little game called Super Galaxy Squadron. It was described to us a shoot-em-up for people that aren’t terribly good at shoot-em-ups. It also caught our attention because all of the net proceeds were designated for charity.

Next week, an updated version of the game, Super Galaxy Squadron EX will be available for sale. The EX edition includes new art and audio, as well as additional modes.

Anyone who owns the original will get the new version for free and have the choice to launch either. For those coming in new, it’s priced at $9.99 ($7.99 during the launch period). The soundtrack by Random Encounter is available for $1.99.

The original version was a charitable effort by New Blood and Synset (formerly Psyche Studios). The net earnings from the game, $10,000, are on their way to charity. The funds will support Child’s Play, an organization that donates video game hardware and software to hospitals to ease young peoples’ stays.
