With Far Cry Primal, Ubisoft is taking its popular first-person franchise back to the Stone Age. The guns are gone, but protagonist Takkar has several tricks up his sleeve to make it a more engaging experience. In addition to being quite the crafty journeyman, Takkar can also charm animals to fight alongside him.

In a time of violent tribes and prehistoric creatures, survival is no simple task. To combat the constant threat of death, Takkar can scavenge and craft different weapons ranging from clubs and spears to fire arrows and bee bombs. These weapons come in handy whether fighting fellow humans during stronghold attacks or simply trying to survive the night full of natural predators.

If this feels a little too overwhelming, you're in luck. Ubisoft has released a primer video that shows how these various mechanics work within the Far Cry formula. The video also shows the different kinds of animals that Takkar can use as companions in action, as well as the adversaries you'll face. The video below wraps up with a look at the pre-order bonus sequence, which allows you to create havoc as a woolly mammoth.
